The Social Security Administration has announced changes to the payment schedule for June 2025. These changes will affect specific groups of beneficiaries, particularly those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Due to June 1st falling on a weekend, the agency activated its early payment protocol.
As a result, many SSI recipients will not receive a deposit on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. However, other groups will continue to receive their regular payments according to the established schedule. Beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997, primarily long-term retirees, will see their deposits on the usual date.
They receive an average of $1,999.97 per month. Those who combine regular Social Security benefits with SSI will also receive their payments on schedule. Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries, who receive an average monthly payment of $1,581.88, and recipients of survivor benefits, who average $1,565.52 per month, will receive their payments on the established dates.
This is significantly higher than the average $717.87 received by SSI beneficiaries. Social Security beneficiaries not falling into the above-mentioned groups will receive their payments on staggered dates throughout June, following the traditional schedule based on birth dates:
June 3: Beneficiaries receiving benefits since before May 1997. June 11: People born between the 1st and 10th of the month.
June 18: People born between the 11th and 20th of the month. June 25: People born between the 21st and 31st of the month.
Payment dates and schedule adjustments
The SSA has reiterated the importance of beneficiaries being aware of these dates to avoid confusion, especially those who received an advance payment in May and will not receive another until July. Beneficiaries can check the full payment schedule for 2025 on the official Social Security Administration website, a useful resource for those who rely on this income as their main source of support. SSI recipients will not receive a payment in June.
Since June 1 this year falls on a Sunday, there will not be a payment processed in the month of June. The next SSI payment will be distributed on Tuesday, July 1. SSI provides monthly benefits to those with limited income or resources who are 65 or older, blind, or have a qualifying disability.
Children with a qualifying disability can also get SSI. SSI checks will be sent out on the following dates remaining in 2025:
Tuesday, July 1, 2025: July payment
Friday, Aug. 1, 2025: August payment
Friday, Aug.
30, 2025: September payment
Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025: October payment
Friday, Oct. 31, 2025: November payment
Monday, Dec.
1, 2025: December payment
Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025: January 2026 payment
The Social Security Administration suggests that if you don’t receive your payment on the expected date, allow three additional mailing days before contacting the agency. Most payments arrive on time since 99% of beneficiaries are paid electronically.
