Brian Kelly, popularly known as “The Points Guy,” is dedicated to helping travelers maximize their credit card points and miles for exceptional travel experiences. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Kelly shared insights into his passion for travel and how it all began. “My passion is helping people maximize their points and miles so they can travel better,” said Kelly.
The Points Guy, a website he started, offers a wealth of advice on airplane miles, credit card points, and various travel tips, ensuring travelers are well-prepared and confident. Kelly’s interest in accumulating points began during his childhood. “My dad got a job for a startup, and he would travel from Philadelphia to LA every other week.
Despite missing some of our basketball games, he accumulated a lot of frequent flyer miles. When I was 12 years old, he challenged me to figure out how to use these miles for a family vacation,” Kelly recalled. Inspired by the book “The Firm” by John Grisham, Kelly planned a family trip to the Cayman Islands, igniting his lifelong interest in travel points.
Maximizing points for travel experiences
In 2010, Kelly launched The Points Guy as a blog and subsequently transformed it into a global company with a dedicated staff. “We still focus heavily on points and credit cards, but we cover all aspects of travel, from cruises to theme parks.
We aim to help travelers get the most out of their experiences, whether it’s through booking tips, discounts, or cheap fares. We also empower consumers to understand the ecosystems of loyalty programs and credit cards,” Kelly explained. To further assist travelers, Kelly authored the book “How To Win At Travel,” addressing a wide range of travel-related questions, from tips to managing travel anxiety.
“It’s been 15 years since I started The Points Guy, and while we’ve helped millions get value out of the system, there’s still a lot of overwhelming information out there. I wrote ‘How To Win At Travel’ to be a comprehensive guide for those new to the travel points game,” he said. Kelly emphasized that playing the points game is about more than just travel; it’s about investing in personal experiences and making the most of available resources.
Brian Kelly is set to appear on a show Monday morning, where he will share more insights and tips for travelers. For those interested in expanding their travel horizons and maximizing their points, Kelly’s guidance continues to be an invaluable resource.
